Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Valaros (“we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects your personal data when you visit valaros.shop or buy from us. Valaros is a trading name of Mark Harvey Stephen Davis, a sole trader, who is the data controller for your personal data. We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Data we collect

  • Order and contact data: your name, billing and delivery address, email address, phone number and order details.
  • Payment data: payments are handled by Shopify’s checkout and payment processors. We do not see or store your full card details.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and cookie identifiers.
  • Communications: emails and messages you send to us.

Why we use it and our lawful basis

  • To process and deliver your order and handle returns (performance of a contract).
  • To keep accounting and tax records (legal obligation).
  • To keep our website secure and prevent fraud (legitimate interests).
  • To send marketing emails, only if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time (consent).

Who we share it with

We share data only with service providers that help us run the store: Shopify (our e-commerce platform), payment processors, and delivery carriers. They process your data only to provide their services to us.

International transfers

Some of our providers, including Shopify, may process data outside the UK, for example in Canada, the United States or the European Economic Area. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies provided by Shopify. Some are necessary for the store and checkout to work. Others help us understand how the site is used. You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings, and through any cookie preferences shown on the site.

How long we keep data

  • Order and transaction records: 6 years after the end of the financial year of the order, as required by UK tax law.
  • Customer support messages: for as long as needed to resolve your enquiry and any follow-up.
  • Marketing data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, correct it, ask us to delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, withdraw consent, and receive a copy of your data (data portability). To use any of these rights, email support@valaros.shop. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.
